New to Thailand

Update all kind of Coca Cola collectibles around the World

New to Thailand

Hi All,

My name is Michaël Van Laere and I moved to Bangkok, Thailand just a month or so ago.
I moved from California, USA, and am originally from Belgium.

I used to collect all cans but am specializing in Coca-Cola cans and sets. I brought a lot of Coca-Cola cans from the US with me to trade, as well as my collection.

I have a question about receiving boxes in Thailand and paying tax on them.

I received a box from Belgium and had to pay 700 Baht tax on the box!!!
This was quite a big box (50+ cans), but this seems to be way to much tax to me.

Is there a way to avoid having to pay this tax?

Hoping to do some trading in the future and meeting you guys.

Cheers,
Michaël Van Laere

That's the normal rate to pay duty tax in Thailand (cans & bottles), they will random check on the box then charged you about 20-30% of their cost estimate + VAT + post service, sorry to say that just leave this box at post office if you need to avoid the tax or you can request back at the post office if you think the tax is not resonable. That's all I known but if anybody have more informations or the way to avoid the tax on issue, please let him know :-)

thanks in advance
